Women in Afghanistan now have their own television channel. Zan - or Women's - TV began airing this month, with a staff of all female presenters and producers. And it's being seen as a groundbreaking step for women's rights, in a country still dominated by men. Six people were killed and at least 24 were wounded in an attack by the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) on the Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) building in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, Wednesday. Nangarhar Province Governor Mohammad Gulab Mangal announced that there were four perpetrators. According to intial information, one of them detonated an explosive vest at the building entrance, while the remaining three engaged in a gunfight with police officers dispatched to the site shortly after the blast. The victims include four RTA employees and two policemen. Gunmen disguised as police have killed a security guard and opened fire on staff at a private television station in the Afghan capital Kabul. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack on Shamshad TV - a Pashto-language broadcaster.
